Week 12: Tigers Lack Of Killer Instincts Continues

NAIROBI — And in their fifth game of the regular season, the USIU Tigers had their opportunity to make their ultimate statement.

And they did. For one quarter.

And then one of the most important games of the season turned into arguably the worst of their season, they squandered an opportunity to win the game in regular time. How do you turn those types of advantages into what turned into a 66-69 loss Sunday evening to the Ulinzi Warriors?

But no obvious answer has been apparent. Sometimes the starters blow big cushions, sometimes the subs do, and sometimes the whole team collaborates to donate a victory to the opposition like they did against Co-op Bank Spartans. The Tigers have lost two consecutive games, games they could have easily won.

If you’re a long-time Co-op Bank Spartans fan, what’s not to like here? They are sitting pretty on the league standings after condemning Nakuru Club to their ninth straight loss this season. So far so good for the former champions.

KPA men’s team had two crucial victories against Strathmore and Blades at home over the weekend.

Strathmore Swords four game winning streak came to an end when they lost to KPA 58-34 in Mombasa. Defending champions USIU Flames looked shaky but still cruised past Eagle Wings 63-43.
There was very little movement at the bottom of the ladies standings, Western Delight poor run continued when they lost 27-70 to Co-op Bank Kingdom Queens at home while K.U Oryx lost 83-35 to Equity Bank Hawks.

Battling back from earlier losses Kenyatta University Pirates bounced back with two wins over the weekend when they beat Barclays Bank 58-57 on Saturday and 4 Christ 53-48 the next day.

The red-hot Zetech University Sparks now sit at No. 1 in the division one ladies log after a perfect 6-0 after beating Kaya Tiwi 48-43 in a close game. Egerton University Kytes overcame a bad second quarter to cruise past Gladiators 53-49 at Upperhill.

Blazers have been in good form this season and after going down to KDF Morans they were back to winning ways with a 49-41 win against USIU Marines.
