Uganda: NBL Tips Off Today

NAIROBI — The Ugandan National Basketball League 2016 season gets underway this evening with two huge clashes at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

Defending women’s champions UCU Lady Canons take on JKL Lady Doplins at 6 pm, KIU Titans face defending men’s champions City Oilers at 8 pm.

Good organization and lucrative contracts have since attracted a good number of Kenyans to the Ugandan league over the years.

New comers Lady Dolphins signed Kenyans Purity Adhiambo from UCU Lady Canons, Grace Wanjiku (Co-op Bank Kingdom Queens) and Salma Akinyi (Equity Bank Hawks). Dolphins’ will be keen to start the season impressively with former Co-op Bank Kingdom Queens point guard Angella Namirimu on board when they take on the defending champions Lady Canons which is led by Kenyan international Velma Achieng.

KIU Titans Kenyan coach Hamza Nyambogo made eight new signings and will be hoping for a better season when the league tips off. Also in the team is former KCITI and Co-op Bank Comets shooting guard Norman Blick.
