NAIROBI – Nairobi Basketball Association will host the Annual Tom Munyama Basketball Tournament Nairobi Edition on March 17 and 18 in Nairobi.
The schools category will be held at Upperhill High School while clubs and universities will battle it out at the Strathmore University Grounds, Madaraka for the two day tournament.
The tournament honors former powerful Kenya Basketball Federation Secretary General and ladies national team head Coach Tom Munyama. During his time, the ladies national team qualified for the World Cup in Sidney (1994) and the men’s team was fourth in Africa. He is also credited for Kenya hosting the men’s Afrobasket at Kasarani in 1993.
In the late 90’s Tom helped many Kenyans settle in the US in search for a better life. It is in this spirit that the tournament was founded and continues to thrive here and the US.
Each team will be required to pay ksh 4,000 registration fee.
