The POSTA ladies team beat KPA 48-28 on Thursday, August 13, to win the 2015 Kenya Communication Sports Organization (KECOSO) basketball title.
POSTA who trailed KPA in the first and second quarter used a 32 -7 run and a team high 12 points from Bettie Kananu to pull away for the win. A dominant inside play by Silalei Shani and Eleanor Musundi opened up play for the guards in the third and fourth quarter.
POSTA held on despite a strong start from KPA, who led the first quarter 14-7. Posta battled back with a slim 9-7 win as they got their own momentum resulting KPA to pass the ball around, that didn’t work.
After playing 2-3 defense for most of the first half POSTA stepped up the ante by playing man to man defence. From there on KPA struggled especially on the point guard position. Grace Wanjiku nailed a go-ahead three pointer near her bench to take the scores to 22-21 and POSTA never looked back.
POSTA had a dominant fourth quarter with scoring 12 points, KPA were scoreless in the quarter struggling to make any meaingful play.
