KISUMU — All is set for the Kisumu County Basketball Association (KCBA) league to begin this weekend with the first game being played on Friday night from 7:00 pm thanks to the newly installed flood light at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground,Kisumu.
The league, now in its second season since its inception in 2014 has seen the number of teams taking part increase from 5 to 14. This has been mostly due to the recent high profile Biro Lich tournament that has seen the interest in Kisumu basketball rise significantly.
The league will see new clubs Jalils, Pacho 360 hoops Club, and Suns participate. Going by their performance in the pre league tournament held two weeks ago, they will definitely give teams a run for their money. Other new teams include the likes of Asumbi TTC, Mbale Saints and JOUST. The recent performance by Kisumu Boys’ High School has been a motivation to others and as a result, Kisumu Boys who are keen on a better performance in the nationals next year will be joined by Nyangori high School and Maranda Boys High School who have also expressed interest in participating in the league.
The previous participants, Wazee, The Reign, Natives, Manyatta Baptist, Urbanville and Andaki who are the defending Champions, have been revamped as well and are determined to make it to the play off positions.
The games will be clustered but played on a home and a way basis with the top 8 teams making it to the play off stages.
Andaki will be keen to defend their title as they take on The Reign on Friday 10 June, 2016 at 6:30 pm.
