International referee Ambrose Kisoi has been invited to officiate in the final round of the 4th FIBA Africa U16 Women Championship which starts from the 10th-19th July, 2015 in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
“I feel humbled to have been nominated as a neutral referee, that shows that FIBA has confidence in Kenyan referees,” he said.
Kenya has five international referees Erick Omondi, Charles Wakaba, Joseph Amoko (inactive) and Kent Juma (inactive).
“Getting an international license has not been easy given that we pay for ourselves. Those already there must continue working hard to sustain the standards set before us,” he added.
When asked about the refereeing standards Kisoi admits that more should be done “We as referees need to raise the bar in the local league to assist shape up the game we all love.”
Kisoi’s nomination is combination of reward, honour, recognition and trust by FIBA, he leaves for Madagascar on Wednesday.
