Week 1 saw a total five games played in the Kisumu County Basketball Association (KCBA) league . The defending champions Andaki who are keen on retaining the title made their intentions clearly known after seeing off the reign 72-59. Andaki took an early lead which they maintained winning both the first quarter 18-13 and 17-12 respectively. The third saw an even tie ending 12 points a piece. Both teams rallied in the fourth quarter with the reign mounting a come back but Andaki were equally as hungry winning the quarter 25-22.
Andaki had three players score double figures. Maxwell Oketch led the scoring with 22 points while George Madenki and Okiri Ooko each had 10 points. Alex Okoa led the scoring for The Reign with 14 points.
Urbanville lost their first match to the newcomers Suns. They began on high winning the first quarter 12-09 but lost the second, third and fourth 08-11, 13-16 and 09-12 respectively. Justus Okitoyi and Patrick Otieno had 14 and 13 points respectively for Urbanville. John Wijass managed 20 points for Suns.
In the other games Maxwell Oduor scored 12 points to carry The Natives 33-23 past Pacho 360 hoops club. Mbale Saints on the other hand had a not so good outing loosing to Manyatta Baptist and Wazee 32-10 and 39-14 respectively.
