NAIROBI – The Kenya Basketball Federation yesterday announced the new 3X3 League, the league’s first-ever nationwide elite 3×3 basketball competition tour that will make stops in selected regions.
The 1st edition of the National 3X3 League will take place in 8 regions namely Nairobi, Coast, Nyanza, Rift Valley, Western, Central, Eastern and North Eastern.
The 3×3 league headed by KBF 1ST Vice Chairman Hilmy Ali will see league teams battle it out on Friday evenings and this will culminate to the National Championships for selection of the National Team and club championship in both Junior and Senior Categories. 3X3 basketball has become an official event of Tokyo 2022 Olympics.
The League will involve more grassroot teams increasing participation and improving the quality of the league which will result in developing more elite 3×3 basketball players in the country.
Having hosted a successful zone 5 tournament in Mombasa in June this year, Hilmy has already identified members in all the selected regions who will help coordinate the league with the branch officials. The league tips-off next month.
